FRESHMAN & SOPHOMORE YEAR PROGRAM
Preparing a foundation for success
Get a head start! We mentor our 9th and 10th grade students on topics like transitioning to high school, course planning, taking advantage of appropriate academic & extracurricular opportunities, networking & building positive relationships with teachers, academic advising support, and summer planning. Using tools such as YouScience or AchieveWorks, we can also help our students identify their interests and aptitudes so that they can further explore their strengths and passions in meaningful ways. When students are ready, we can also start discussing topics related to college, such as visiting colleges or creating an SAT/ACT standardized testing plan. Sessions with 9th and 10th grade students are always scheduled as needed, but on average students meet with us on a bi-monthly or quarterly basis. We’re completely flexible and will 100% customize sessions to student needs and wants.
Session topics might include:
- Setting future goals and easing into thinking about college
- Developing mature executive functioning skills & study habits
- Help with academic planning, like choosing the right high school classes
- Advice on participating in meaningful extracurricular, volunteer & leadership activities
- Summer break planning
- Writing tutoring from our college essay coaches
- Building an early relationship with their college counselor
